Unique design
The designs are unique to New Valley Bikes.The bikes are all drawn 1:1 scale by hand. This allows me to see all shapes, sizes and angles on one sheet of paper, giving me a better overview of the bike and allowing me to be more creative. The drawings are then used to create jigs and templates.
Handcrafted
I use conventional woodworking machines (no CNC or CAD) as well as a lot of hand tools to create the frames. Most of the work can only be done by hand. I've had to develop my own techniques and even tools in order to be able to make these bikes. To ensure a good grain match each bike is constructed using wood from only one tree.
Strength and protection
To ensure each bike is strong and stable every join is reinforced, either internally through the metal head and seat tubes or externally with an adjacent joint. The seat and chain stays are also laminated for extra strength, up to 18 layers thick.
The bikes are protected with a marine grade finish. This shields the frame from the elements and its scratch resistant surface prevents minor scraps and bruises.
